Van's Aircraft RV8

My
name is John Huft, and I live in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
When I looked into building a kit plane, I did not look very hard at the plastic, or
compost, airplanes. I have done small projects in fiberglass, and I hate it!
Having been a machinist, and tool and die maker, I knew that I could stick with an aluminum airplane project, and already had some of the tools and know-how, although I had no sheet metal experience.
For the
last 25 years I have been an electrical engineer, designing electronic circuits.
No doubt you will see some of that mind-set here as well.
These
pages chronicle the construction and flying of RV8 number 80913.

I have decided to name her "Nuisance" in the hope that
she will be a real nuisance to the other racers.
It is a play on the famous F1 racer Nemesis. Mine
is not so serious as Nemesis.
The figure is a self portrait of the builder near
the end of the project.
