No-no-no-no no! The parts manual is wrong(!) for the early 180s. We know for
sure for the 1954s and also likely for the 1955s according to the [incorrect]
model number code in the parts manual. The correct part number is 0310196-4
[lh] and -3 [rh] for the early 180s.
If you order the -5 and -12 they will be twice the diameter and twice as
strong and half as long. Then get the -4 and -3s. You will, as you said, use
a lot of swear words getting the -4s and -3s in; with the -5s and -12s, you
will consider suicide.
Don't screw around with sources. They are well less than $10 bucks each so
just get them from any Cessna source.
Yes, we remember many fond hours spent lying on our stomach, needle nosed
pliers in hand, spring punching holes in our fingers, blood dripping onto the
floorboards and remembering all the elaborate swear words my Italian father
taught me when I was a youngster.
Best, Lou and 'Old Charlie.'
